Lydia O. Boyd commits to support all families and family dynamics while providing safe and sacred space to families who have been historically traumatized, ostracized, and humiliated by institutionalized and structural racism. Lydia O. Boyd strives to address and close racial birthing and feeding disparities by providing cultural congruent, relevant, and aware birth and breastfeeding support.
Lactation support provided by Lydia O. Boyd is in the phone, virtual, and in-person consultation where breastfeeding is assessed. Assessments are made through feeding observations, physical anatomy assessments of both the breastfeeder and infant, and a detail intake of medical history. In addition to lactation support, Lydia O. Boyd facilitates multiple support groups and a variety of classes and special sessions. Lastly, Lydia O. Boyd is a speaker and teacher who can speak to specific topics within the lactation genre.
In-Person or Home Visits are conducted throughout Los Angeles County. Request for In-Person or Home Visits beyond LA County will be charged a travel fee and mileage.
Virtual and Phone Consults are welcome from families who reside beyond Los Angeles County. If it is determined during the consult that the family needs to be seen in-person, Lydia O. Boyd will work with the family to find a practitioner in the family's area. Families are encouraged to use local resources such as their healthcare provider, local breastfeeding directories, and/or coalitions or task forces.
